Supported Disibilities: Down syndrome
The Adult Weekend Retreat is a 3-day/2-night overnight camp experience for all adults with Down syndrome, ages 18 and above. The Retreats occur two times per year on location near Lake Wylie in South Carolina. The Retreats also offer a 3:1 participant-to-counselor ratio. The counselors support the vocational trainings and work closely with the adult participants to provide the best experience possible! We also welcome other adults with intellectual disabilities to join us if space allows. Adult participants will focus on increasing self-confidence and independence through individual, small group and large activities and vocational projects throughout the weekend. For example, participants will learn about and practice Soft Skills for Success, Job Interviews, Appropriate Communication, and other Vocational Readiness skills. The adults will also have the opportunity to participate in camp activities like Canoeing, Kayaking, Hiking, Fishing, Ziplining, Team Building, Rope Courses, Slip ‘N Slide, a Dance Party, and a Campfire with S’mores.
Cost:
$350 (Scholarships available), registration will open in March. Deadline for Fall registration is 9/1/24.

EmpowHer Camp is a yearlong mentorship program for disabled girls and feminine-aligned youth ages 13-18. EmpowHer Camp begins with a wilderness camping trip July 27-August 1, 2025, and continues with a yearlong community projects that participants work on with the support of a mentor. At the end of the year, participants and mentors re-unite in Washington, D.C. for the Leadership Trip, July 12-17, 2026.
*For the purpose of this program, the terminology “youth,” “young women,” and “girls” include cis or trans girls or other feminine-aligned people.
*Campers do not have to be independent with toileting and hygiene skills to be eligible for Building Abilities Summer Camp.
Cost:
EmpowHer Camp is free, and we support participants with fundraising a certain amount. We also provide travel reimbusements. Applications open December 1!

Camp SAY is an ACA-Accredited, 2-week, sleep-away summer camp for young people who stutter, ages 8-18. Camp SAY combines a high-quality, traditional camp experience with specialized programs and activities that help kids and teens who stutter develop confidence and independence, improve communication skills, and form important lifelong friendships.
Camp SAY is hosted at Camp Tel Yehudah, an idyllic camp with 75 years of history, located on 150 beautiful wooded acres on the banks of the Delaware River in Barryville, New York – just 2 hours from New York City!
Campers are welcomed by a super-friendly staff, many of whom also stutter, and immediately see that Camp SAY is a very special place of acceptance, support, and encouragement. Camp SAY is a life-changing summer camp where young people who stutter are free to have fun and stutter as openly as they choose – and everyone ALWAYS gets as much time as they need to speak!
Cost:
Camp SAY Tuition is offered on a Sliding Scale basis, with Summer 2022 Tuition ranging from $50 – $3,800.

At Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Camp Oasis, kids living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis can just be kids. We provide a safe environment where friendships ignite, confidence soars, and epic adventures become life-long memories. Camp Oasis is FUN without the fear of judgment or feeling different.

At Camp Easterseals Virginia, we believe every camper deserves the chance to experience the joy of summer camp, regardless of ability. Nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains near Roanoke, Virginia, our overnight camp is designed for children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. Our trained and compassionate staff adapt all activities to meet the needs of each camper, ensuring everyone can participate fully and safely. Whether it’s paddling a canoe, conquering the rock wall, or enjoying the glow of a campfire, every moment is crafted to encourage independence, build confidence, and create lifelong memories. We offer summer camp sessions, a fun-filled family camp, and weekend respites throughout the year. Summer sessions are May 30th-July 24th, and Family Camp is August 4th-9th.
