Camp REACH, a summer camp for children and young adults with special needs who have severe language challenges. The use of augmentative communication is addressed for each individual camper. The camp is run by a team of speech pathologists, specializing in augmentative communication and speech services for individuals with severe impairments, with over 35 years of combined experience. This daycare allows camps a fun themed camp experience while working on social and communication skills. Peer buddies work side by side with campers to assist in a variety of activities, such as art, music, cooking, literacy, and gross motor play. Parents are encouraged to come and learn more about how to incorporate their camper’s AAC/communication into their daily activities. Sessions are divided into mornings for ages 3-10 and afternoons for 10 and above. The ratio is 5:1 speech therapist. So if a camper needs 1:1 attention for feeding, medication or behavior, we ask that a caregiver attend.
