Carol Cranford

Carol Cranford is the Executive Director for Family Support Network of Southern Piedmont. As a parent of a child with Angelman Syndrome, Carol has a great passion for families with children who have special needs. Her years of volunteering on various disability related committees lead her to a career with Family Support Network™ where she has worked since 1998. She has completed training through the NC Family Resource Coalition and is certified in Family Support. As an accredited provider of Triple P, Level 3 Primary Care Stepping Stones, she helps families of children with disabilities build positive parenting skills. She is a certified Sibshops leader, helping boys and girls who have a brother or sister with a disability.

Carol is a frequent presenter on Toxic Stress in Young Children. Carol serves as Vice-Chair for the FSN-NC Council of Regional Affiliates. With funding from the Cabarrus Partnership for Children, Carol started Project Baby Reach, a support program for families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital. She is a member of the Perinatal Quality Collaborative of North Carolina. Carol has experience in starting and facilitating parent support groups and recently helped coordinate the Angeles de Esperanza, a support group for Spanish speaking families of children with special needs. Working to make changes for families at a systems level, she is the Parent Outreach Coordinator for the Innovative Approaches Initiative for Cabarrus, Rowan and Union Counties. As a community leader in the nonprofit field, Carol was recognized as a Role Model Honoree in the 2011 Concord Mills Celebrating Women Event.

Carol and her husband Ron have 2 children - Carrie who lives in Charlotte and Nathan who has lived in Heaven since 2013. Carol likes to read and has been a member of a book club for over 12 years. She and Ron are volunteer ushers for Actor's Theatre Charlotte and enjoy Saturday afternoon wine tastings at one of the many wineries across the state.
